The best base for a greenhouse is a patio slab or concrete base. Without a properly constructed base, the greenhouse may distort, allowing heat and moisture to escape and making it challenging to regulate the temperature. Does a greenhouse need planning permission?

Stand-alone greenhouses don’t usually require planning permission. However, a lean-to may qualify as an extension depending on the size, placement, and listing of your building. So, it’s best to check with your local planning office before assembling a greenhouse.
