Opting for a self-build insulated garden room is a great way to access the Waltons range while achieving a significant cost advantage. Can I use my garden room all year?
Our insulated garden rooms are designed to offer comfort no matter what the British weather throws at them. The thick (choose between 72mm and 100mm thickness) double-skinned timber walls contain a layer of EcoQuilt insulation – a multilayer foil product that offers insulation properties equivalent to 100mm of standard rock wool. Both floors and ceilings are also fully insulated, and we fit double-glazed windows as standard. Adding a heat source will, of course, make your room that much more comfortable. Can I sleep in my garden room?
As a comfortable, cosy space, we’d be disappointed if you didn’t occasionally nod off in your beautiful garden room, but you shouldn’t use your building as extra sleeping accommodation unless you have planning permission to do so.
Do I need planning permission for my garden room?
The vast majority of our customers do not need planning permission for their Waltons insulated garden room. In fact, we design our buildings to comply with all the relevant height and building size restrictions. There are, however, certain exceptions – listed buildings, for example, and for builds that take place in the front garden or take up more than half of your garden. If in doubt, you should refer to the government planning portal.
